After two rounds of online voting, the 2014 USATF-NE Grand Prix Series will run with the following schedule (the "Demar" slate):
New Englanders will return home from the USATF Junior Olympic National Cross Country Championship with gold medals. James Donahue (FORR / Reading MA) won the 9-10 division 3000 meters in 10:44 over a field of 329 runners. Led by Samuel Toolin's silver medal, Sentinel Striders A won the 11-12 boys team title in a 33 team field.
At the USATF Annual Meeting, seven New England association certified officials were selected to work at the IAAF World Junior Championship meet to be held in Eugene, Oregon, in July 2014.

Good performances were turned in by local scholastic runners at the Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) Northeast Qualifier at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls NY. The meet was one of the eight qualifiers, and included the six New England states, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The top 2 teams and several at-large teams from around the country, plus the top 5 individuals from non-qualifying teams advance to the final on December 14 in Oregon.
USATF New England youth runners turned in a strong showing at the USATF Junior Olympic Region I Cross Country Championships in New York on Sunday. Besides strong competition from 5 other associations in the six age divisions, the sub-30 degree temperatures and strong wind gusts provided additional challenges on the Bowdoin Park course, site of many NY state championship events.
