Mary Saxer (NYAC/Boston MA) won her first National Indoor title at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend. Saxer, who trains at MIT, cleared 15'5.5", defeating defending champ Jenn Suhr and qualified for the World Indoor Championships to be held in Poland in March.

Several other New Englanders qualified and took the trip to compete in Albuquerque. Greater Boston TC thrower Lisa Wilson was 8th in the weight (61'0.25"), teammate Nate Hunter placed 11th in the shot put (60'1"), and Tim Ritchie (B.A.A) was 14th in the 3000 (8:25.03) as the mile high altitude put distance runners at a disadvantage. Mainer Becky O'Brien was 7th in the shot put at 56'11.5".
