(Toronto, Canada, and Worcester, MA)--Masters athletes have been very successful this summer. Masters Chair Rex Harvey wants the USATF Masters to be the number one masters track and field team in the world, and it appears they are well on their way. Two world and 15 American masters records were set at the World Masters Athletics (WMA) North America-Central America- Caribbean Regional Championship in Toronto, Canada August 11-13 and the USATF Masters Outdoor Throws Championship August 5-6 in Worcester, MA. Masters Track & Field Records Chair Jeff Brower has provided the list below, highlighted by Kathy Martin, 65, from Northport, NY, setting TWO world marks, in the 1500 Meter Run and 2000 Meter Steeplechase, in Toronto at the WMA Regionals.

LONDON -- Katie Burnett (El Cajon, California), Susan Randall (Beavercreek, Ohio) and Erin Taylor-Talcott (Portland, Oregon) made history Sunday morning as part of the first field of competitors for the women’s 50 km race walk at the IAAF World Championships. Burnett took five minutes off her American 50 km record to finish in 4:21:51 Sunday, breaking her own 35 km (3:00:43) and 40 km (3:27:10) pending American records along the way.
LONDON -- Team USATF’s performance at the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London was one for the record books, from a record number of medals to all-time best performances.
With three medals Sunday night at the IAAF World Championships - gold by the women’s 4x400, silver by the men’s 4x400, and bronze by Ajee’ Wilson in the 800 - Team USATF shattered its record for the most medals at a single World Championships to close out competition at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Stadium.

LONDON -- Another night, another four medals for Team USATF at the IAAF World Championships Saturday night at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Stadium. A gold from the women’s 4x100, silver from the men’s relay and Dawn Harper-Nelson in the 100 hurdles, and bronze for Paul Chelimo in the men’s 5,000 meters brought Team USATF’s medal tally to 27 medals with one day of competition remaining.
LONDON -- Team USATF’s 100-meter hurdlers turned out in force for the first round of competition while the men’s decathlon kicked off and qualifying was held for the men’s high jump and women’s discus under sunny skies Friday morning at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Stadium.
