Newbould and O'Sullivan Lead Marathon Championships

IMG_1163.JPGIt was an interesting finish that nobody on the men's lead truck saw coming at the 2017 USATF New England Marathon Championships. From the horn, it was Ruben Sanca of Whirlaway in the lead. He would hold that lead until mile 25 when teammate Brandon Newbould passed him. It appeared that Newbould came out of nowhere, with Sanca having what appeared to be a quarter mile lead at times. Newbould would cross the finish line at 2:23:51, with Sanca following closely behind at 2:24:15. Rounding out the top three in the Marathon Championships was Jonathan Joyce of Western Mass. Distance Project in 2:28:33.

IMG_1184.JPGOn the women's side, Pam O'Sullivan of Millenium Running crossed the finish line first in 2:49:05. Coming in second for the USATF New England Marathon Championships was September Athlete of the Month, Apryl Sabadosa. Sabadosa is famously known for running barefoot, and was in the lead for the overall Grand Prix Champion going into Sunday's event. She finished in 2:56:36 followed closely behind by Kassandra Marin in 2:58:14.
